WHY CHOOSE GRENADA

Within less than three months you can become a citizen of Grenada under the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Programme. Grenadian citizenship confers a number of benefits where applicants may also include their dependents in the application. There are no educational requirements or the need to attend an interview. Citizens also benefit from a 0% tax on worldwide income.

One of the main attractions of the programme is the freedom of mobility with unrestricted rights to live, travel and study in the CARICOM and enjoy visa-free access to over 141 countries, including Europe’s Schengen Zone.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least eighteen years of age.
  2. Have enough funds to make the required investment. The source of funds must be legal.
  3. Be of outstanding character.
  4. Hold no criminal record or subject to a criminal investigation.
  5. Have excellent health.
  6. Have a high personal net worth.
  7. Must not provide false information on his or her application form.
  8. At any time previously been convicted in any country of an offence for which the maximum custodial penalty for the same or similar offence in Grenada is in excess of six months imprisonment (unless he or she received a free pardon).
  9. Involved in any activity likely to cause disrepute to Grenada; or denied a visa to a country with which Grenada has visa-free travel and who has not subsequently obtained a visa to the country that issued the denial.

Investment Criteria

AVAILABLE OPTIONS

Applicants may choose between two potential routes for citizenship.

These are:

  • A contribution to the National Transformation Fund, a minimum donation of $150,000 ($200,000 for a family of 4).
  • An investment in an approved project (real estate) in Grenada, minimum purchase price $220,000 and retain for 5 years.

THE NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION FUND (NTF)

The National Transformation Fund (NTF) is a Government fund responsible for financing projects that will benefit Grenada’s economy and help its diversification.

Applicants who choose this route must make a one-time contribution to the NTF. Under the NTF route, applicants may either immediately apply for citizenship, or first, apply for permanent residence and apply for citizenship at a later stage.

APPROVED PROJECTS (REAL ESTATE) IN GRENADA

The process of approving a project for the purposes of citizenship by investment begins with the Citizenship by Investment Committee, which reviews viable projects and recommends them to the Minister. The Minister then decides whether to approve the project and publish his or her approval in the Gazette. Currently, the vast majority of the approved project consists of real estate developments on the island of Grenada. These include luxury hotels, resorts and villas.

Buying Real Estate in Grenada

Foreigners can buy property in Grenada and the Government of Grenada welcomes investment from overseas buyers. There are no restrictions on foreign buyers acquiring real estate in Grenada and foreign buyers enjoy the same rights as Grenadian citizens. In order to purchase real estate in Grenada, foreign buyers need to apply for an Alien Land Holding Licence (ALHL) which has a fee of 10% of the purchase price and takes 1 to 6 months for approval.
